Clarification About Medication
If parents would like to enable their Upper student(s) to receive over-the-counter or prescription medication from the school nurses, parents must provide that medication AND submit a Medication Permission Form.
MCA staff can not legally administer any oral medications, topicals, eye drops, cough drops, or contact lens solution to students without specific written permission from a parent. This includes all over the counter medications (OTC’s). A Medication Permission Form is located on the school’s website. Parents must ALSO provide the properly labeled medication to the school along with the permission form.
Permission To Treat
When parents give MCA "Permission to Treat" their student(s), MCA WILL ONLY provide the following services:
- Basic First Aid
- Scrapes and Cuts - clean wound with wound cleanser or soap and water; cover with band-aid or gauze. (no topical ointment or sprays)
- Injuries - apply ice packs and wraps, as needed
- Head Bumps - monitor for concussions, apply ice pack, if needed
- Stomach Aches/Headaches - provide water and crackers (if no allergy); short rest
- Female needs - provide supplies, if needed
- Take vitals when needed
- Provide emergency care
All medications must be provided by the parents with a Medication Permission Form.
