Practice Gym Policy

Open Gym

We are allowing students to spend some of their free time in the Practice Gym during school hours.
Parents, please review the policies below and remind your students to follow them carefully so the Gym may remain open. We have had to close it in recent weeks because students were not following the rules. "With great freedom, comes great responsibility." Thank you!

Practice Gym Policies and Procedures

These procedures will help give you freedom to use this facility and a structure to know what is expected. We hope it will also help maintain a great place to play for future students. These procedures will only work if we remind one another and develop a new culture in the Practice Gym. Enjoy!

If any of these policies are not followed, the Gym may be closed as a penalty for one week.

Key Check-Out

  1. Any student may check out key from Front Desk in Resource Center.
  2. Must be passing all classes to check out a key.
  3. Must take responsibility to leave Gym in good condition and return key when finished.
  4. Key will only unlock the North door across from the Fine Arts Office.
  5. You cannot ask a friend to turn key in. Before you leave you must clean, pick up balls, lock the Gym, and turn the key in at the Front Desk. If someone else wants to check it out to keep the Gym open, they must follow you to the Office and do the same procedure.

Open Gym Rules

  1. Absolutely no food, candy, or drinks in Gym.
  2. ONLY tennis shoes or non-marking rubber soles allowed.
  3. No KICKING balls.
  4. NO balls in the CEILING.

Clean-up and Check-In

  1. All balls placed in racks.
  2. All brooms hung on wall beside the exit door that you entered.
  3. All water bottles, trash, and clothes are to be put in the Lost and Found or thrown away if possible.
  4. If drinks are left outside the door and not cleaned up, there will be a one-week penalty closure. The Practice Gym hallway is not a personal space; it needs to be kept clean as well.
  5. When the Elementary (Grammar) classes are using the Gym, Upper School students will only use the West side of the Gym and be considerate.
