I can give you a laundry list of things that I love about MCA and probably at the top of that is just the people. There is no other school like MCA. I mean there is not a person there who does not genuinely love kids, love teaching, love learning themselves. We've been great beneficiaries of what this school and what the people involved in it and what the original vision had to offer for us. They don't really allow a child not to succeed. They make sure that they're actually doing what's necessary to be successful. The main thing that we learn through the Grammar School is that they can do it and they can do it well. You get to spend time with your parents and you're not stuck in school all day, so you're at home studying with your parents and then you go back another day to learn more from your teacher. Somebody that's very intrigued or interested in homeschooling but they're not sure they want the full burden to do that. For anybody who thinks that they can't homeschool: if you're a mother you can. Every tough day that we have, I would not change it for a second. It is worth it and I would not do it any other way. It's definitely worth it. Looking back, I got so much closer to my parents through that. I enjoyed a lot of things about the Grammar School, but I was excited for my kids to get to the Upper School. The amount of freedom that they're given to fly and fail-- I like that dynamic, and I think it's a healthy dynamic. I think it prepares you for life and for learning how to use the responsibility you're given. It seemed like by the time my boys were freshman in high school, they were better equipped at managing themselves and their time than I was as a junior in college. It's really cool that you have off time and breaks to come in here and ask for help on things you don't understand or do extra homework. It's difficult. You're going to have to work hard and you're going to have to put in some time going to the tutors and asking for help. If you're willing to let yourself be challenged and willing to let yourself ask other people for help then definitely I think you should try it. They find themselves and they find their identity in a really safe place. I love watching them at school and just seeing how every kind of kid fits in. The relationships here are one of the best parts of MCA. It's like a huge family. There's a culture of non-exclusiveness. It's very rare for a school to be that close with their students. A love for learning has been instilled in my kids. The people there care about developing the whole person. It's not just about a great education but it's about developing character and integrity and those things that really matter to us. The level of education they're receiving is top notch. I would put it up against any school in Midland/Odessa. You're a senior, and you've been here for a decade. What's your takeaway? I've learned there's nothing that I can't learn. That's all I wanted you to know. If the vision appeals to you and you're willing to take the plunge and you're willing to do the grind and shed the tears especially at the Grammar School and the homeschool aspect there's great reward in it. You can get as much out of MCA as you want. This is worth it. It's definitely worth it.
